Teen Coaching Practicum
A meaningful opportunity for mature teens to grow as leaders. This 8-week practicum, running from September 28 – November 18, 2026 at Ave Maria North Park, is designed for young men and women who want to lead with humility, clarity, and genuine care — rooted in faith and a heart for serving others.
Over two weeks in the classroom, teens will explore coaching philosophy, teaching fundamentals, and how to lead with patience and encouragement. The following six weeks are spent assisting live IronRoot sessions, where they'll mentor younger athletes under the guidance of experienced coaches. This is real leadership formation — both given and received.
Designed for Teens Ready to Lead
- Mature teens ages 15–18 who have a heart for younger children
- Teens who want to grow in leadership and responsibility
- Young people interested in coaching or serving others
- Those who value faith-based mentorship and character formation
Classroom Foundations, Hands-On Growth
Classroom Foundations
Coaching philosophy, fundamentals of teaching movement and skill, safety and communication, and how to lead with patience and encouragement.
Hands-On Coaching
Assisting experienced coaches during actual IronRoot sessions with younger athletes. Teens will help with drills, encourage kids, manage small groups, and learn to read the room — all under direct mentorship.
More Than Coaching — It's Discipleship
This isn't just about learning to coach. It's about learning to lead with virtue. Teens will have regular conversations about what it means to serve others, to lead with humility, and to see coaching as a form of discipleship. They'll be challenged to grow in patience, clarity, and genuine care for the children they're serving.
