IronRoot Athletics was founded in Ave Maria to give every child — regardless of experience or natural ability — a place to learn, belong, and grow through sport. We offer football, basketball, swimming, and more, all coached with patience, care, and a deep commitment to character formation.
Our Mission
To form young athletes in fundamentals, character, and faith through sport coached with patience, encouragement, and joy. We measure success not by wins or scores, but by the confidence and virtue a child carries with them off the field.
Our Philosophy
When my wife and I moved our family to Ave Maria, I noticed many children were either never taught the basics or were rushed through them so quickly that little stuck. I saw kids standing on the sidelines wanting to join in but unsure how.
IronRoot exists to change that. We slow down. We keep it simple and joyful. Every child — whether a complete beginner or more experienced — receives the same patient, respectful coaching. Our goal isn't to create elite athletes, but to raise children who can confidently step into a backyard game and feel like they truly belong.

We are a Catholic homeschool family, and we are honored to serve this community. Practices often begin with a short prayer, and our coaching is guided by a Catholic worldview: the dignity of every person, the pursuit of virtue, and the understanding that sport is a gift to be used well.
That said, IronRoot is open and welcoming to all families. What unites us is the shared desire to coach children with patience, respect, and genuine care — using sport to build lasting character. Everyone is welcome at IronRoot.
